“The Crown” is the perfect show for the fake news era
Apex Legends developers call players 'freeloaders' and 'ass-hats' | The Independent
The developers of Apex Legends have been criticised after an attempted apology devolved into a series of insults directed at players of the game. The hugely popular video game had originally faced criticism for its latest update, which brought with it the Iron Crown Collection Event. His reply , which received more than 1, downvotes on Reddit, stated: "The amount of people who spend is crazy low, most of y'all are freeloaders and we love that! In another comment, he lamented the way he perceived game makers were now treated by the gaming community. Would be awesome to get back there, and not engaging with toxic people or asking 'how high' when a mob screams 'jump' is hopefully a start. His comments provoked outrage from the Reddit community, with the most popular post on the sub-Reddit over the weekend claiming the game's developers had "alienated" the playerbase. You've set a new tone for this kind of interaction we'll be having with you.
Pretty much the last thing I wanted in life was to be sucked into the vortex of another snobby British costume drama. Especially after suffering through the last two hideous seasons of Downton Abbey. As that show limped to some kind of meaningless conclusion, I found myself hoping an army of zombies would overrun that crumbling British house and devour those tiresome fools. The only pleasurable moment of those final episodes was watching Lord Grantham vomiting blood at dinner, raising hope that an alien-like creature would burst out of his chest, and save the world from the tedium of this show. Writ large, The Crown tells the same story as Downton Abbey.
A Reddit thread in which Apex Legends developer Respawn admitted its fairly expensive, complicated Iron Crown Collection Event had " missed the mark " has descended into recriminations and more debate about the relationship between developers and fans. The thread , which announced changes to the way players obtain Legendary skins during the event, attracted comments from individual Respawn developers, including executive producer Drew McCoy. In the course of the discussion, McCoy called players "ass-hats" and "dicks", and lamented toxicity in the community.
